Walker's Wedding by Lori Copeland Circa 1870Walker McKay owned and lived on his large spread outside of Spring Grass Wyoming. He'd spent two years trying to convince himself he loved Trudy Richards and they were to be wed. In a lastminute decision Trudy left town on horseback to follow after a man who sold bowler hats. Walker was left to look like a fool and made a vow to never let a woman get close to his heart again.Sarah Livingston was an only child of a wealthy railroad owner Lowell Livingston who was widowed. Mr. Livingston was left alone to raise Sarah along with her black nanny Wadsy and servant Abe. She desperately wanted to get married and have a family of her own.Abe had just caught Sarah before boarding a riverboat with a young man to get married and brought her home. Her father was exasperated with her shenanigans so he was going to send her off to Uncle Brice's once again and she subsequently ran away with the help of Abe wearing his grandson's clothes. On the train to New York Sarah was able to take the place of a mailorder bride going out West. When Sarah met Walker she deceived him as to who she really was and Walker was still embittered over Trudy. He needed an heir so they married.Lori covers the early days of Sarah and Walker's marriage in such a truetolife manner for the days of mailorder bridesbrides of convenience. There's always a transitional time during a normal marriage but Lori catches the difficulties amidst the unusual circumstances and the emotions between stranger newlyweds with delicacy and intrigue especially since Walker didn't trust women. Period. It was comical to see the disasters of a pampered young lady learning how to cook for her husband. But it was difficult to watch the anger and bitterness when Sarah's deception was found out.
Enchanting Love Story Sarah Elaine Livingston wants to get married but no man she meets can pas her father's approval. He is so tired of his headstrong daughter's quest to find a man that he plans to send her to live with her Uncle Brice. Sarah does the only thing available to hershe runs away.Walter McKay has been burned once by a woman and he doesn't ever want to get married but a near fatal accident forces him to realizes he needs an heir. he adverties for a mailorder bride.
Disappointed I felt like I read this story before. The ending was different although not at all surprising than I remembered it to be. But all the way through I knew what was going to happen next. The book became tiresome with the unresolved bickering and conflict. I did not understand the father's visit and his determination to dissolve the marriage. The lie was overrated Walker agreed to marry a mailorder bride and that's what he got. Why the unresolved fury and lack of forgiveness? She repented and asked for forgiveness from Walker and her father. They refused. I get tired reading a book that is all conflict and then in the last 10 pages they suddenly change their ways. This book could have been a great example of a married couple working out a misunderstanding and showing how forgiveness can make a marriage stronger. Perhaps the book should have been called Walker's pride. I usually love Lori Copeland but Walker's Wedding was not one of her best.
Wonderful read! I just finished reading Lori Copeland's book Walker's Wedding and thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover. It is a great mixture of romance and comedy and has a message that so many people need to hear about finding love and trusting in God. Sarah Livingston is a character that I think any young woman can connect with as we all grew up dreaming of being married and starting a family of our own. Once again Lori Copeland has outdone herself with this heartwarming story of learning to love and trust.
Walkers Wedding This review is for the novel Walker's Wedding by Lori Copeland.I like the fact that Lori has such diverse characters throughout this novel. Never a boring moment with all of them helping keep the story flowing at a good pace.Walker McKay thought he had all the time in the world to produce an heir for his ranch and all that goes with it. That is until a furious bull gets a hold of him. Now he needs a wife and fast. No one he knows will do for the job however for she is strictly going to be a wife to produce his heir. No love required or wanted.Sarah Livingston is a very rich railroad heiress and the incredibly spoiled only child of her indulgent father. Her heart is set on marriage and children of her own. When one of her escapades lands her in hot water with her father she takes matters into her own hands and strikes out on her own.
MailOrderBride I love Lori Copeland's sense of humor. She comes up with fun wacky characters with unusual names that get themselves into scrapes that shock the laughs right out of you.Something you should know about her books so that you get the one best suited to your taste is that she wrote secular books for years before she broke into the Christian market. She has three types of books secular Christian and secular turned into Christian. There are people in the world who only read one or the other. If you only read Christian books then you'll want to read Walker's Wedding. If you only read secular books then you'll want to read Marrying Walker McKay.They are the same story. The secular one was written first and then Lori took out the most extreme secular content and replaced it with Christian content. She does have Christian books that were never secular books for example Hope Faith June etc.
Walker's Wedding I was in need of a great romantic book filled with fun and Walker's Wedding was it!Lori Copeland did an amazing job creating a story that has the reader feeling every emotion there is and laughing in between. It is a light read that is easy flowing and full of life.I was cheering the characters on and encouraging them on their journey. From the book descriptionBestselling author Lori Copeland Outlaw's Bride and A Kiss for Cade weaves together elements of another classic Western romance with themes of redemption forgiveness and second chances.Abandoned by his fiancée hours before their wedding Walker McKay is determined to never let a woman near his heart again but he needs an heir to inherit his ranch after he is gone. Courting someone new is out of the question so he'll have to find a wife another way. Wealthy heiress Sara Livingston wants to be married but her suitors are deemed unsuitable by her unreasonable father. When the opportunity to fill the bill for a mailorder bride comes her way she grabs onto it with both hands. Will Sara's deception and Walker's wounded heart keep them from finding what they are looking for? Or are they truly meant for one another?Although slightly unrealistic this story will catch the heart of any romantic. It is a wonderful book filled with loveable characters and a moving plot. Lori Copeland pulls it off with a fantastic ending. You will put it down feeling ready to pick up her next book.
WALKER'S WEDDING WALKER'S WEDDING part of the Western Sky Series by Lori Copeland is as charming as her other novels set in the western frontier.Sarah Livingston rebels against her railroad tycoon father and runs away from home in search of a husband. Walker McKay decides he needs an heir for his family ranch and sends for a mail order bride. When their paths intersect on the open lands of Wyoming they provide the solution to each other's needs but little else. Walker keeps to himself refusing to allow his heart to be once again broken by a woman and Sarah is in turmoil knowing that the secret she keeps from Walker will surely destroy what little they have.WALKER'S WEDDING was a quick and delightful read. Yes some of the book was predictable but it didn't detract from the beautiful setting and colorful characters.
The Best Yet! This was by far the best Lori Copeland book I have read! I absolutely loved this novel! I wish she had more Western Sky series I could go on to read. I highly recommend this book.
Walker's Wedding Sarah Livingston wants nothing more than to marry take care of her husband and have children. No one seems to understand her urgent need for these things. When she happens upon the chance to switch places with an unhappy mailorder bride she seizes the opportunity. All she knows of Walker McKay is that he was recently injured and wants a wife only so he can produce an heir. Sarah is okay with that.
