  • Great Book and love that it has a CD. The book is just suggested by the manufacturer of my paint sprayer. It is a good book for those who don't know anything about spraying like me.
Great book & DVD Excellent book for a novice like myself. Jeff also has a very informative website/forum for additional help.
Excellent reference and a MUST HAVE for spraying newbies. I bought this book to better learn how to spray the wood finishes I use zinsser sealcoat dewaxed shellac crystalac super premium and createx wicked colors. The book is very clearly written in good order and with lots of helpful charts for the various finishes and things like needle/nozzle combinations. It also covers the basics for most finishes a typical woodworker would use. There are plent of clear color photos to compliment the text. The dvd is equally excellent. It's worded to the point where complete novices will be able to walk away with a good understanding of where to spray how to spray what the different types of spray guns are which spraying system to use etc. The video is masterfully shot and you can clearly see what's going on every second of the video and the sound is perfect. At the price it is this book and dvd set is a total bargain and worth every penny. I've watched the dvd 10 times or more and will probably watch it another 20. There's just that much information in it.Also note that Jeff Jewitt sells a line of spray equipment QualSpray and the quality is excellent and Jeff is a great guy to talk to as well. Just call him up with your needs and he'll steer you in the right direction. I bought a QS125WB with an extra bigger cup and you can really tell the difference between the QualSpray and the cheap HF or other china guns.
Great product Great product fun reading this is a great book pick one up. you will learn allot about spraying.
Excellent resource for a novice or occasional finisher This book with companion DVD is an excellent resource for the novice or occasional finish sprayer like myself. The material presented is consise full of immediately helpful tips and howto examples and is not encumbered by useless distracting information.
Spray Finishing Book This book is one of the best things I bought in a long time. It was informative and simple to follow. The video CD was awsome. I will recommend this book to anyone.
An essential book for the beginning sprayer or reference for the occasional 4 1/2 stars almost perfect.I bought this book for my brother so I had to look at it. Generally excellent and I got a good tip to spray vertical surfaces from the top not the bottom. Works much better as you can blend in any drips or runs as you spray. I had always been taught to spray bottom up. I didn't look at the DVD but my brother liked it a lot.Why not 5 stars? A couple minor picky nits. Water may be a thinner for waterborne or not! Waterbornes are complex emulsions like oil and vinegar dressing. Adding too much water may have two adverse effects first it can cause the emulsion to separate second it isn't a thinner for the finish carried by the water. In the later case as the water evaporates the droplets of finish that it carries may not mix correctly to make a finish. In either case you are out a can of very expensive finish and possibly have a nasty cleanup ahead of you. Another nit is that he gives shellac rather short shrift and as a result gives confusing instructions. He seems to assume that everyone will pretty much use Zinster premixed when most folks mix their own. Not horrid but misleading and a bit incomplete. This is not a definitive work on all spray finishes but it does a excellent job of covering all those likely to be encountered in wood working.Overall while it will not teach the experienced finisher much it is a great book for the occasional or beginner sprayer and a nice reference for unfamiliar finishes.
Practical Advice Having never used a HVLP sprayer it gave me enough knowledge to understand that painting with this type sprayer can be a controlled spray with little overspray issues. Stressing equipment cleanup was very good.A good section on building a spray booth not needed by me but good info.
Doesn't get better than this for instruction I purchase a lot of woodworking finishing and DIY books and DVD's. This set is possibly the best of all that I have used. Clear concise excellent introduction to spraying. I have finished and refinished quite a bit of furniture. But I don't have a whole lot of experience with spraying. I needed to refinish a dining table and six chairs. The set was natural wood finish combined with paint. I needed to spray a shellac based primer water based alkyd emulsion and oil based clear finish. I watched the DVD perused the book went to Harbor Freight and bought the types of sprayers Mr. Jewitt recommended completed the project with no hitches and results that even impressed me. Just the tip from my very happy customer paid for Jeff's book. Just an excellent book and DVD.
Furniture finishing If you are looking for specific painting info on something other than furniture you might want to look further. Otherwise this is a very good over view.

Lionel FasTrack Book Robert Schleicher It could have been much better

    The Lionel FasTrack Book
The Lionel FasTrack Book Read more...

Rehashed Tublar O plans that don't work with FastTrack I agree with the previous review. This was not what I expected. There were plenty of O track plans for 'old' Lionel track that don't work with the new FastTrack. Very dissapointed.
Inaccurate! BEWARE! This book while attractively printed is useless for actually designing and setting up layouts.I bought it to get the FasFrack geometry which is meagerly covered in Lionel's catalogs unlike the exhaustive treatment by say Märklin.Schleicher gets off on the wrong foot by stating that Lionel has always measured the size of a curve by the diameter of the circle that the curve creates at the outside rail. Page 77 Bzzzt! WRONG for FasTrack anyway. A simple tape measure check shows that the curve size is measured by the CENTER rail. This basic mistake propagates throughout the example layouts in the book. If you measure the track pieces and use a CAD system for track planning you will find that Schleicher's layouts do NOT align correctly in some cases by several inches as in the yard layout on Page 154. When you try to assemble the listed pieces as shown reality sets in and you realize that these plans simply do not work. If you force the specified pieces together you will have a distorted and unreliable track layout.Lionel seems to have made a beautiful track product but picked very bad track section sizes. Schleicher compounds the problem by presenting examples that simply do not work.
I would like my money back Others have detailed the factual inaccuracies of this overly expensive book and the fact that certain of its track diagrams simply do not work. In addition to these issues the book is weak on substantive technical information especially on wiring matters.
Save your money This book is of very marginal value. It has many nice but not very useful picture but it's technical descriptions are very very thin and incomplete. If all you're interested in is layouts the book is ok but if you're looking for information on how to use lionel systems this book will be of little help. Typical of the book's inattention to detail pages 4244 purport to explain how to use TMCC with Fastrack. In those three pages there are approximately 2/3 a page of text and 4 different pictures ALL of which show you how to connect to your track using a Lionel lockon onto an O27 i.e. nonFastrack piece of track. Need to know how to get a third wire connected to your Fastrack so you can connect to both the command base and power supply? Figute it out yourself. Worried that Lionel tells you to use 14 gauge wire and the Fastrack connections are 22 gauge? Too bad. No answers here. No apparent awareness of Fastrackrelated issues. This book is typical Lionel. Plenty of gloss but very poor documentation.
Nearly Useless. I wish I read the reviews before buying this book. This book is nearly useless and full of misinformation.I was hoping that this book would have enough information on Lionel FasTrack geometry to allow me to design my own layout. But sadly it does not. In one chapter it says that one could design a layout with a compass and triangle but most people find it easier to just buy a bunch of track and see what works. Well. Lionel track is EXPENSIVE. I want to know it will work before I drop a few hundred bucks. What exactly is this book for?Other pieces of misinformation in the book FasTrack curve radius is from the CENTER rail not the OUTER rail as described in the book.
The Lionel Fastrack book excellent book better than expected.
    The Lionel FasTrack Book
Just finished my first layout I completed the layout on page 67 of this book and every piece snapped together perfect with no problems. So whoever is complaining about these layouts not working is wrong at least with this one.
Get on Track with Fasttrack It's a great place to start if you are new to fasttrack. lots of neat ideas but I found myself using them as a starting point for more elaborate or special shaped layouts.
It could have been much better I did see the reviews saying save your money. But having just received a train for Christmas I needed some Fastrack info hence the purchase of this book. On a scale of 110 I'd give it a 3. With this title I would expect to learn just about everything about Fastrack. I still don't have enough answers to determine if a particlar layout would work or not. He spreads the info about the various pieces all over the book. He uses a lot of words to tell you next to nothing about the pieces. On the plus side there are a lot of layouts. The pics of various layout are very good. but I don't need layouts. I have my own rough idea of what I want. I just want to determine what pieces I need to make it fit together. More size info as example. As example if I have a distance from outside rail to outside rail of 106 that would be a straight line and I want to put in a Wye on each end of that straight section with left/right switches on each end to join the perpindicular track on each end what's the length of straights I need. I don't want to go out and buy software or extra pieces to make it work. If you get my drift. So Mr. Author on your second edition present a chapter that covers the basics of ALL the various track pieces. Then move on to design layouts yards and etc.

Love These Ladies! I not only love reading about these ladies I want to move right in and live with them! Hannah Amelia and Grace share their lovely farmhouse and their lives in Joan Medlicott's wonderful Ladies of Covington series. I have now read and re read them all in order and outoforder it doesn't really matterand I can hardly wait for the next installment.I like to keep a road atlas at hand while reading to follow the roads and highways they travel on their trips around North and South Carolina. Someday I hope to take a trip to Mars HillNorth Carolina to search for Covington. Bed and Breakfast Inns take note A Covington weekend would probably be well attended! Please Ms.
DO NOT BUY FOR KINDLE This is a great book. However everyone who owns this thing on Kindle knows that this is NOT a Kindle book despite the advertising. It doesn't open correctly doesn't download easily causes the Kindle to freeze causes the Kindle to stop working just plain DOES NOT WORK and all it does it causes many problems for you and your machine.DO NOT BUY FOR KINDLE until they fix this mess.
the ladies of covington send their love The book arrived in very good condition as stated by the seller. I t is a very charming story most enjoyable.
Lack of quality is offensive Add me to the list of readers who are offended by the very shoddy editing of this Kindle edition of The Ladies of Covington. Electronic publication is cheaper for the publisher so why can't they provide something that doesn't look like it was written on a broken keyboard. I have just deleted 4 'Covington' books from my Amazon wish list.
The Ladies of Covington Send Their Love I am so glad to be able to get this book and be introduced to The Ladies of Covington.
Editing or Typing sucks I am only one third of the way into this book and although I am enjoying the story I would not recommend the Kindle version since it is so poorly edited or entered there are multiple misspelled or jumbled words which makes it hard to read. It's like a puzzle where letters are missing and you need to figure out the words without all the clues.
The Ladies of Covington Send Their Love This book is the first in a series of stories about these ladies. Good read easy and pleasant.
Kindle readers warning This is not formatted for kindle. The socalled Kindle edition is just a horrible scan of a paperback. I really wanted to read this book and almost bought it without downloading the sample. The publisher should be ashamed of attempting to sell this as a Kindle version. This scan of a paperback is so sloppy that it's complete with a warning to not buy without the cover. Even the barcode and the price of the paperback was scanned in and is good for a laugh. Ironically at $6.99 the paperback was cheaper than this poorly scanned faded Kindle version. Download the sample for laughs but don't waste money to buy it for Kindle.
book review I purchased this book as used will deal with this seller again was in excellent condition. This writer Medlicott has an excellent series of books which I am enjoying very much.
A series of wonderful books about the lives of three women Those of you who have previously read my reviews know I do not go back and over the book. But attempt to talk about the writer and her skills as a story teller. Joan Medlicott is an exceptional writer who has taken a unique situation between three older ladies all living in a boarding house for older women A stroke of luck leaves one the heir to a old and in much need of repair. They band together and throw in their lot of their meager funds and move to NC where they all work hard to develop their individual skills and make it work It does not quick but is an easy read in acceptance of each other as human beings and the respect we come to learn and share about each otherI may not have a novel in me but surely some short stories One does not live to be 73 years old and not learning something. All of the character here are not young women but older well seasoned adults who have so much to offer and so much they can say about living. All of you who have read my reviews know I do not go page by page with the books but only give a glimpse of what the author is offering Ms Medlicott does not disappoint. She is a wonderful writer and once I read one of her books I was hooked and wanted to know the entire story I went to Amazon.com and ordered every book she had written. I finished them all and loved what I read. Even sneaked in a few that were not about this/or these series. I hope this review has been helpful.

  • Powder-coated finish for appearance and durability against corrosion and rust

  • Easy to assemble We were pleased with our Gorilla Rack Workbench and the way it went together. All the parts arrived in good shape and the assembly was done with relative ease. While the instructions suggest two people work together for this task I was able to assemble it completely alone.
Awesome workbench. This product was a gift and it was just as expected. It was fairly easy to assemble and it seems to be perfect for what we needed. I would definitely reccommend this to others as long as they don't mind putting it together.
Awesome workbench I bought this workbench about 7 years ago and have moved 3 times since then. Easy to disassemble and reassemble. It is strong and sturdy and one of my favorite purchases. The drawers were the only part of this workbench that have caused some problems. The assembly was not quite perfect at the beginning and sometimes I would pull out the drawer and it would come apart. Very aggravating BUT the more times I put it together the better it fit together each time and now I have no problems with the drawers now. I have never had to replace any of the wood shelves or peg backer. I really like this product and highly recommend it.
Good bench for the money For the money this bench is a solid purchase. The wood top is particle board and I am sure I will need to replace it in a year or two with something stronger but really that's a minor thing. Overall I am very pleased. It was very easy to assemble and survived shipping pretty well one corner of the top has a ding but hey it's a workbench. I'll do far worse to it in short order.
Great for the price Rather simple to put together* and very useful for garage storage.*The drawer mechanism is very difficult to properly install. Even after installation there is some play with the drawers. I do believe that the latest model of this actually has redesigned the process and fixed the problem.
Mediocre Thy name is Gorilla Rack While I agree with other posters on here that you get what you pay for I did expect that I would at least get the hardware to fasten the work surface to the bench. Somewhere between that and the flimsy feel to the drawers because they too need a little extra fastening I am left feeling rather disappointed in this bench. The metal goes together pretty easily and the instructions are adequate. The wood however just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like other reviewers my particleboard and pegboard were damaged in shipping. I know it's a workbench but reallywhy bother including the crappy wood in lackluster packaging which will just have to be replaced upon opening? Why not predrill and include the hardware to hold the last bits together. All in all I wouldn't recommend this to a friend and I won't recommend it here.
Not Worth Frustration This is the second Gorilla Rack product that I purchased and he second one that disappointed me. First the peg board arrived damaged which looked like poor packaging because behind the peg board were some nonreinforced areas that allowed it to crack. That was a little disappointing but it can be fixed.
It's not perfect but it *is* a workbench Generally speaking I like this workbench. However there were issues which were less than pleasing1 Like many others I received boards which had been damaged. Both the main work surface and peg board had damaged corners. The damage was not severe enough for me to really care I had anticipated this based on other reviews and had included that in the cost/benefit analysis before purchasing but it is still a little disappointing. So if you think you might buy this expect damaged goods.2 A few pieces were bent out of shape so I had to fix them. The metal is not really all that substantial so doing this is not a difficult task and I was able to do this with a rubber mallet and my bare hands. Again though it is disappointing to have to repair a new item.3 The gliders for the drawer simply would not fit. Perhaps I was too weak or was handling them to delicately but whatever the reason it was not possible for me to get them mounted as shipped. To remedy this I took a mini pry bar and bent the clips slightly so that they would slide into the mounts.4 I anticipate that I will need to replace the work surface. This isn't really a problem with the product as I knew what the surface was made of before I purchased it but for the sake of completeness I wanted to mention it.
excellent for the price The metal construction is good and goes together fairly easily. You will definitely need a hammer of some sort. The particle board for the top shelf and the pegboard were both damaged in shipping but I just went to Lowes and bought a new piece of particle board for the top shelf and the pegboard was no big deal because I intended to install a light anyway. In short you're getting what you pay for here. It's not a Craftsman or a Kobalt but you're also only paying $200 for it. I'd definitely buy it again.
Nice for price My husband loves his new workbench! Together we put it together easily. Not the best written instructions but were easy to figure out. The bench stores so much stuff.

The House on Benefit Street Read more...

Terriffic first novel I found "The House on Benefit Street" at the 2d annual New England Crime Bake where author Donna Montalbano was on a panel. My interest piqued I bought a copy and thoroughly enjoyed it. The main character is the house itself and I want it myself. The protagonist is newly widowed and making major unexpected changes in her life. Against all odds and advice she buys an old house in Providence. Only after she moves in does she discover that an unsolved crime was committed there. Pageturning writing great sense of place people I'd like to have lunch with. The occasional chuckle doesn't hurt. Recommended for mystery fans who can do without the bloodandguts.
Will keep your attention as you feel like you are there! This was an easy book to read associate with each of the characters and relate to the changing scenes almost to the point where you begin to feel a part of the story yourself. This may be the case as I was born and continue to live in RI and can relate to all of the places mentioned. The story was detailed to the point that it drew me in and held my attention making me read more and more.Even now that I have completed the book its enthralling my mind causing me to have flash thoughts of events that occurred in the book and feeling like the story is continuing to unfold like the characters are people I know.
a great read The House on Benefit Street is my favorite book this year. I loved the characters and the setting. As someone who does not live in Providence this book has made me want to visit. The author definitely captured my imagination.
Great book for many reasons I loved this book. It was an easy read and the main characters were people that are easy to relate to. The story was deep yet easy to follow and the author's descriptions were very vivid without being overdone. In my opinion a good book is one that I can't put down and this certainly qualifies.

Cornhusker Dreams Romancing America Nebraska First story not for today's adults but other two are great!

    Cornhusker Dreams (Romancing America: Nebraska)
Cornhusker Dreams (Romancing America: Nebraska) Read more...

Little known stories of WWII Nebraska I enjoyed this book because it is historically correct telling three stories of sacrifices made on the homefront during WWII. I'd never thought about where guard dogs were trained or who brought in the crops while the young men were off to war before these stories. The characters are so easy to relate to and you get drawn into the war stories through the great characters. A great read.
First story not for today's adults but other two are great! In the first story it seems the main focus is on a young girl trying to just enjoy flirting a bit too much for me to enjoy. Maybe if I was a teen this would have come across better. But as a hard worker here and volunteer in my spare time simply running around flirting all day is a bit much to read about and enjoy. And finding the main male attracted to a girl like this throughout the whole story sounds unbelievable. I'd have dumper her in a flash. No substance to continue any relationship here that I saw. Could have been due to my age and upbringing though. What may have worked better here focus more on the work involved not flirting and especially on the latter part of the story when many other volunteers joined the scene and this main heroine actually works with life not mentally or with flirting but something solid like sending food to soldiers making socksand working on the farm with the family in mourning. ..something productive and not so highschool like flirting for the whole story. As is this story seems better geared for a teen read not an adult book club selection.OK the other two stories were great reads though. Who hasn't had dreams shattered after working for years towards s certain career? Now this is an adult topic for all ages to enjoy. And working with prisoners is actually what I do with some of my own volunteer time. So showandtell society yes excellent! Too many people want to lock people up and forget about them. But Jesus tells us otherwise and this message is equally important as other messages in novels out there.
Great WW 2 Trilogy This three in one book contains Canteen Dreams Sandhill Dreams and Captive Dreams. These three books examine three different aspects of life on the home front during the Second World War. Canteen Dreams deals with the soldier's heading to war and the volunteer efforts to easy their journey by providing food and coffee at train stations along their way. Sandhill Dreams deals with the need for war dogs their training and the interaction between soldiers and the local people. Captive Dreams covers the labor shortage on farms during the war and how the government solved that by using POW's. All three novels are historical romance novels with an edge. They deal with hard life issues such a prejudice hatred and alcohol abuse. All well worth reading for anyone High School age and older.

An amazing book The Seasoning of Rebecca is an amazing piece of fiction. Richly descriptive historically fascinating this beautifully tragic tale is inspiring and disturbing.

He was married to a woman who made it clear after the wedding that she would never be intimate with him. She was abused by her family mistreated by the community. The author rambles a bit in the gritting. Some parts were tedious and difficult to read through. There is sexual activity but no erotica. This is not a story about the Amish. The were of the Moravian Brothers Society. Very similar but not the same.

    The Sharpie Book
    The Sharpie Book Read more...

Mystery Solved. This book was just what I needed. It is incredible how much informational quality Reuel Parker is able fit into such a small book. The book appears similar to his classical boat re/designs eligant yet spartan. The review above is complete. Don't bother reading the following warningI do have one problem with this book. As a recent amatuer boatbuilder for the past year I've been enjoying collecting and reading these type of books as well as boat designs. My appetite has been insatiable. This book and his re/designs of classical sharpies is so good it literally filled the gap. I didn't expect my needs to met so thoroughly. What do I do now? I have a long list of books in my wish list that can't possibly compare. How many times can I reread this one? As mentioned above it is a small book regardless of how much quality information it contains. Hopefully building a boat will workup an appetite.
Not just for Sharpies This book has many virtues It is highly readable downtoearth or sea? and covers a fascinating topic. The sections on this history of the sharpie are nicely punctuated by seastories observations and photographs of working sharpies.I'm building my own boat. It is not a sharpie more of a dory but it uses many similar construction features flat plywood sides rockered bottom chine log construction centerboard epoxy covering etc.. Mr. Parker's book has been an absolutely priceless resource on every aspect of construction.I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in small sailing craft either for history or building your own. I'd also advise people to check out the ParkerMarine website for more information on the Author's designs.
A boat built from The Sharpie Book I bought the book and built a sharpie. It's proved to be a good boat especially for shallow water. This boat makes you seek shallow water and go places other sailboats don't dare.
Great book you will want to build one I really enjoyed this book. The author includes everything from the history to the modern construction of these boats. Some of the sections on construction are a little confusing for beginners. One area that comes to mind is the section on lofting some diagrams would be useful here other books or websites help. I have read the book several times and expect I will always use it as a reference.
sure to make a sharpie lover out of you Reuel Parker has captured the simple essence of small functional boats. This is a terrific read chock full of interesting information about the evolution of the sharpie type. It includes several excellent boatbuilding projects with instructions aimed at semiknowledgeable builders. Firsttime builders may need an additional building resource to understand some of the finer points of boat construction. This book will very quickly instill you with a fondness for light simple shallowdraft boats. Anyone who likes sailing or boat trivia will love this book.
Great background for boatbuilding I think the kernal of this book is the description of why plywood is a superior boat building material. diagonal strength I had been thinking of carvel planking as the best type of wood construction. I was wrong. Other than that the book does a great job of describing the history of and reason for sharpies. From what I read I decided that a deeper heavier and stronger boat might be more appropriate for the inside passage to Alaska. Also I'm just not short enough to spend much time in the cabin of a sharpie.Good book good read and I will be buying the Ruel Parker book on cold molding.
Great book! I love this book it starts out with history of the sharpie design to get you hooked and then it finishes with a modern interpretation of a classic sharpie. You gain enough knowledge from this book to create any of the sharpies mentioned in the book. You are even given the dimensions for a few of the more popular models.
A wonderful addition to the nautical library Whether you are an amateur boatbuilder or just love reading and learning about boats this is a fantastic book to add to your library. Reuel Parker has done a superb job of researching the roots and evolution of this versatile little craft as well as including enough information in the back that a fairly skilled craftsman could build just about any of the boats showcased. Well written narrative combined with fine historic and documentary photos make this a book that anyone would have trouble putting down.
Don't build or buy a Sharpie without this book! Reull's book is wonderfully illustrated and superbly written. He is a wonderful salesman for the sharpie in general and uses great historical references to build reader interest in these great boats. As an aspiring boat builder I found the book indispensible. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.
Excellent Information Reuel Parker really has a hit with this book. He information is excellent and easy to understand no elitist jargon here. He makes a wonderful case for the Sharpie's use and how versatile a boat it is. Anyone who is considering build a boat at home should read this for sure. The book contains several boat plans and all the information need to build one is contained within.
