I was born in Dundy County, Nebraska, the daughter of Homesteaders. My education began in a one-room school in rural Dundy County, continued at the Parks High School, Parks, Nebraska. I received a B.S. (Home Economics/Biology) from Sterling College, Sterling, Kansas and a Masters (Special Education) form Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.One-room schools in Dundy and Chase Counties is where I began my teaching career. Later I substituted in grades K-12 in the consolidated schools in Rush County, Indiana.
